IGNITE: Dragonfly Mail Agent – The Minimal Mail Transport Agent Monitoring Admins Love

Looking for a drop-only mail transport agent seemingly got harder the last years: Nullmailer is dead and segfaulting, SSMTP is unmaintained since five years and MSMTP is a bit finicky for queue management. But, there is a remedy! As always, DragonFly BSD (the FreeBSD 4.8 fork) does things differently. It did so good, that DMA now is the default MTA for FreeBSD and a properly recent version is included in every major Linux distribution released in 2024 or later. This ignite talk shows you the features provided (not many, but exactly matching your needs, for example a “no daemon approach” with cron based queue management) and gives hints for setting it up properly. And to monitor it properly, of course.
