GitOps with Flux

SUMMARY
ABOUT THIS
WORKSHOP

Relying on human operators to remember deployment steps and configuration at all times is risky. GitOps as an operational framework tries to improve this practice with the help of a single source of truth and automatic reconciliation.

In this workshop, attendees will get an introduction to Flux, a popular GitOps engine under the CNCF. Over the course of a day, you will learn how to bootstrap Flux, what its architecture looks like, and how to deploy and configure Kubernetes infrastructure and applications in an automated, proven way. By the end, you will have a working, reproducible Flux setup managing real workloads.
If you’re dealing with drifting state between deployments and configuration that worked just yesterday but doesn’t anymore, this workshop is for you.

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is a great starting point for developers, DevOps engineers, and Kubernetes administrators who want to deploy workloads and infrastructure in an automated manner. You will learn about the general paradigms of GitOps and its prerequisites, and take your first steps with one of the most popular solutions in this space.
Interactive exercises and ample time for asking questions and experimenting will give you hands-on experience with GitOps and Flux, so you can decide if this way of delivering applications is for you and your organization.

Requirements for workshop participation:
Attendees are expected to have fundamental Kubernetes knowledge and be comfortable with Git. Familiarity with GitLab is a plus.
